Anyone who has a San Antonio military move in their future should try to get to the city for the events of Celebrate America’s Military. The celebration begins on Wednesday, November 1st and runs through Saturday, November 18th. There are events scheduled for each day. The opening event is a luncheon, sponsored by the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and celebrates soldiers who have been wounded in the line of duty. A team of athletes will demonstrate a game of wheelchair basketball.
All San Antonio Real Estate Owners Are Invited to Veterans Day Celebrations
Veterans Day has a packed schedule. Come to historic San Antonio real estate at the Alamo. All active-duty military and veterans, plus one guest each, get in for free admission. At 10 a.m. there is a ceremonial wreath-laying by representatives of each branch of the military. Plan to be in downtown San Antonio for the Veterans Parade at noon. Give a salute to the veterans participating and honor their service. There’s still time to enter the parade, too.
At 1:30 p.m., come to honor the bravery and perseverance of the Buffalo Soldiers, African-American units that were established in 1866. These units became some of the most decorated in the Army. The Bexar County Buffalo Soldiers Commemorative Ceremony takes place at the San Antonio National Cemetary and includes remarks from Major General Mark Brown.
Finish the day with football or basketball. University of Texas at San Antonio and University of the Incarnate Word are both offering tickets to veterans and active duty military for their football games that day. If basketball is your thing, the Spurs are hosting a Veterans Appreciation Night, with discounted tickets and a commemorative t-shirt.
