Run the Annual Chaskis 8K Near Helotes Homes

Run for charity near Helotes homes.Runners in Helotes homes have a great opportunity to participate in a race and help community groups. The 10th Annual Chaskis 8K Run & 1-Mile Walk will be held Saturday, March 11th. The race starts in historic Helotes real estate in Old Town at 14433 Old Bandera Road. Packet pickup begins at 7 a.m. Fees for the 8K are $30 for adults, $25 for students, and $20 for kids 12 and younger. Race day registration will be available, but fees will be $5 extra for all groups. The fee for the one-mile walk is $20 for everyone. Chip timing will be done by IAAP. The top three male and female runners in the 8K will receive awards. Awards will also be given to the overall race winners and the top runners in each age group. Helotes Real Estate Owners of All Ages Run for Charity

Texas Partners of the Americas is sponsoring the charity run. Proceeds will go to several worthy causes, some close to Helotes homes and some further away. Texas Partners of the Americas works with communities and families in Texas, Mexico, and Peru, seeking collaborative solutions to problems. One ongoing project is the rebuilding of Vina Vieja in Chincha, Peru after the devastating earthquake of 2007.

Senior Helotes Real Estate Owners Enjoy Casa Helotes

The city provides resources for residents at every stage of life. Casa Helotes Senior Citizen Center is one of these places. Originally founded in 1986, Casa Helotes is a safe and friendly place for seniors to take classes, get exercise, play games with friends, and eat nutritious meals. Seniors from Helotes homes and the greater San Antonio area come for line dancing, dominoes, yoga, painting, quilting, and more. Lunch is served at noon every weekday. Anyone aged 60 or over is welcome. A donation of $4 is requested.

In order to fund the good work of Casa Helotes, the center is organizing a fundraiser on Tuesday, February 28th. Tickets for the 9th Annual Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser are just $10.
