Like everyone else in Texas and the whole country, we’ve been watching the news of Hurricane Harvey and grieving for our neighbors in Houston. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone in the city. We’re not experts here, but we encourage everyone to research the groups that are on the ground helping Houstonians and help as you are able. As a real estate agent, I’ve been pondering ways that I can help people displaced by Harvey. Some people are going to want to stay in the city and rebuild there. But others may be thinking that rebuilding their lives might just be easier in a new city. The fact is that my expertise is in helping people relocate to San Antonio. Be sure to check out the towns that are a little ways outside of the city. Helotes and Boerne are two of our favorites to the northwest of San Antonio. Schertz is to the northeast and is another great town for growing families. You will get more house for your money, with only a few minutes added to your drive into the city.
We’re also lucky to have a lot of new building happening. There many quick move-in homes, built by some of the best companies in the country, including DR Horton and Perry Homes. These newer homes are not only beautiful, inside and out, they are constructed with energy efficiency in mind, which will help you to save money on utilities each month. Another advantage of these newer developments is that many of the builders offer big savings, from $3,000 to $20,000. These houses are a great choice if you need housing quickly after relocating from Houston.
